Sports Performance

Certified by USA Track & Field as a Level 1 Coach as well as being mentored by former State of Illinois and Big 10 sprint champion Tim Graf of Graf Speed Enhancement, I have learned to help young athletes increase their sports performance regardless of their age, activity or ability level.

It all starts with proper execution, putting your body in the correct mechanical positions so your body moves more efficiently. Proper body mechanics means improvements in speed, strength and quickness which translate into improved sports performance. Increasing ones performance in their sport or activity can mean the difference between winning/losing, finishing1st/2nd or setting that personal record that you have been looking for. Only by correct learning and proper execution can an athlete increase their performance.

Another bonus of learning proper body mechanics and improving an athlete’s conditioning is that they can also protect themselves better against injury. Injuries can be part of sport. But if an athlete is well trained and well conditioned the chances of injury and the severity of it are reduced.

If you want to be quicker, faster, stronger, and more explosive, better conditioned, and less prone to injuries, I can help design a program that will develop the athleticism in your athlete in a safe, fun and challenging environment.

In Home Personal Training

Certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine I can design and implement a program specifically for you, regardless if you are a long time exerciser or a beginner.

It all starts with an assessment of your overall health. Every body is different. It is important to get a baseline understanding of an individual’s health first, so if weaknesses are detected they can be corrected and improved. A “cookie cutter” approach to exercise won’t work. Certain exercises may work for one person, but could cause harm to someone else. Designing and implementing a program that is safe, sound and fun can make the difference between failure and success!

The Quick Fitness & Performance Assessment includes the following:

This is a very comprehensive assessment. The more information I know, the better program I can design to help you reach your fitness goals.

My mission statement for health & wellness is to educate, encourage and inspire people to improve their health & wellness so they can live a long and joyful quality filled life!

Cellular health
Exercise

How healthy are you? Do you experience frequent colds, flu, allergies, continual fatigue, painful joints and muscles? Do you wish you had more energy, were stronger and overall just felt better?

Our bodies are under constant attack by foreign invaders. Invaders such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, parasites and toxins can damage the cells of our body and make us more susceptible to illnesses. If our immune system is working correctly it can defend us from those invaders.

Think of your internal environment (cells) being similar to soil in a garden. If your garden is full of weeds it is not a healthy garden. Our internal cellular environment needs the same attention as a garden does. We need to constantly rid ourselves of toxins as we do weeds from a garden to maintain a strong immune system.

So how do we rid ourselves of those toxins? The best way is to keep our main detoxification/filtration system flowing smoothly. That system is called the lymphatic system.

The lymphatic system affects every cell and organ in your body and it helps to maintain balance in the body. There is four times as much lymph fluid as there is blood, and it is responsible for carrying those toxins out of the body. But unlike the circulatory system which has the heart to pump blood, we have to supply the pumping action to move the lymph fluid. Movements such as walking, running and other forms of exercise will help move lymph fluid, but the most efficient form of moving that fluid and ridding the body of toxins is rebounding!

What is rebounding? Rebounding is exercise done on what looks like a mini-trampoline. A rebounder is specifically designed to withstand the rigors of regular exercise, while a mini-trampoline is a cheaply made toy.

Needak Rebounders in O’Neill Nebraska manufacture the highest quality and only American made rebounders in the world. They specifically designed their rebounders with quality, durability and safety in mind.

So why is rebounding the best way to pump lymph fluid and rid our body of toxins? It is the combination of acceleration, deceleration and gravity in a vertical plane, in other words G-forces! At the bottom of the bounce when deceleration and gravity are working in your favor, waste products like toxins are forced out of the cells, and as acceleration begins (going up) to take effect the pressure changes cause the waste products to enter the lymphatic system to be pumped towards the liver and kidneys to be expelled.

This in turn cleans the lymphatic environment, which assist’s in the absorption of oxygen, water and nutrients to happen more efficiently. By enhancing immune function in this way rebounding actually aids in combating everything from the common cold to cancer.

Another great benefit to rebounding is its ease and efficiency on the body while exercising. In a study performed by the Biomechanical Research Division of NASA and in cooperation with the Wenner-Gren Research Lab at the University of Kentucky they compared rebounding with treadmill running. In their research they found that rebounding was nearly 90% impact free and that it also burned more calories when compared to treadmill running. Making it perhaps the most efficient form of exercise known.

If you are looking for an exercise that will strengthen you, give you better health, is safe and fun to do, then rebounding is for you!

Biophotonic Scanner

Have you ever wondered how healthy you are on the inside? There have been over 30,000 peer-reviewed papers written on the ability of antioxidants to fight against disease and the aging process. That’s why we have heard all our lives to make sure we eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. But how well are we doing in this process?

You have probably been hearing a lot of news reports lately showing that the majority of vitamins available are not in forms that our bodies can absorb, and often contain harmful ingredients such as pesticides and trace heavy metals. Whether you get your products from Costco, your local health food store, or even your doctor – they need to be tested to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to. Even the most trained health care professional still has to rely on information provided by the companies who make these products to make their decisions on finding the best products…UNTIL NOW.

At Quick Fitness & Performance I am always looking for ways to help my clients and athletes achieve and maintain optimal health. That is why I am pleased to make available to you the Pharmanex BioPhotonic Scanner. This new laser technology, developed by the research labs at the University of Utah, gives a very accurate reading of the antioxidant status at the cellular level, completely and non-invasively in less than 3 minutes.

This test has been called the Ultimate Lie Detector, because there is no way to fool it. Unlike blood tests which are affected by what you have eaten recently, the results of this test show an overall snapshot of your lifestyle choices. It takes weeks to change the results, so you can’t eat really well for a few days or drink a large glass of juice before the test to get a better score.

Various lifestyle choices can positively affect your antioxidant score such as the amount of fruits and vegetables you consume (fresh, organic are best) as well as good supplementation. Various lifestyle choices can also negatively impact your antioxidant score such as smoking, excessive exposure to sun, and stress. Knowing your number is the first step in being able to identify where you are and then taking steps to improve it if needed. By being re-scanned periodically you can measure and monitor any changes to know if you are heading in the right direction.

Now you will know if your daily intake of fruits and vegetables are putting you in a good range for cellular protection. You will also know if the vitamins you are taking are working and being absorbed into your cells where you need them.

Health & Wellness Presentations

Good productivity from workers is vital for a business to be successful. Poor or lost productivity can be enormously expensive in business and can be the difference between success and failure and profit or loss. That expense is incurred in two different ways. One is by the high medical costs of unhealthy workers and the second is by the loss of performance or absence from work of unhealthy workers.

Workers with multiple risk factors such as high blood pressure, heart disease or diabetes take more sick days and are less productive at work. They are also injured more often and are slower to recover from those injuries. Poor health diminishes work capacity and “human capital.” Human Capital is said to be… “The many abilities and resources an employee brings to the organization including skills, experience, attitude, vitality, and physical and mental effort,” as stated by Dr. Wendy Lynch the Executive Director of The Health as Human Capital Foundation. As those same workers start to age, the problem continues to compound itself and will continue to have a negative effect on the company bottom line.

Conversely, healthier workers take fewer sick days, are less injury prone, have more energy and are more productive. They also can get their jobs done better, faster and cheaper than there unhealthy co-workers. Healthier workers are generally happier and also more joyful as well. So regardless of your profession, position or job, production will increase if one is healthier. That good health will also increase a company’s bottom line.

At Quick Fitness & Performance, part of my job is to help educate people on how to take better care of themselves, so they can live long and quality filled lives. By educating people to improve their health they will be empowered to be more productive workers.

If your company, corporation or business is concerned about the health and well being of its workers and is interested in investing in its human capital to increase its bottom line, I have several health and wellness presentations that can help educate workers to improve their health and well being.

Athletic teams function very similarly to a company. They have athletes (workers) who need to perform at a high level and need to produce in the field of play (work). If they are not healthy, and well conditioned, their performance will suffer. If you are a coach, parent or player looking for ways to improve your team’s “human capital” (productivity or performance) on the field, I can customize a presentation specific to your needs.

I have honed my presentation skills through Toastmasters International. They are the largest not for profit organization in the world dedicated to improving presentation and leadership skills. I earned my Certified Toastmaster (CTM) certificate in June of 2006.

If you are looking for a presentation that is interactive, inspirational, educational and entertaining, I can develop a presentation for you!
